Extended Backup Retention (12-Month Retention)
Extends supported backup retention from the standard 6 months to up to 12 months.
Overview
Extended Backup Retention provides a longer recovery history by retaining supported backup data for up to 12 months, where available and properly configured. Useful for clients needing additional recovery flexibility, longer historical version access, or retention that better supports internal policy, audit, cyber insurance, or compliance expectations.
Key capabilities
- Extending supported backup retention from the standard 6-month period to up to 12 months.
- Maintaining additional historical recovery points where supported.
- Supporting recovery from older file versions, deleted files, or prior system states when available.
- Helping support audit, documentation, cyber insurance, or internal retention requirements.
- Reviewing storage usage impact and coordinating retention settings.
Limitations & scope notes
- Does not guarantee every file, version, system state, or recovery point will be available for the full retention period.
- May increase storage usage and associated backup storage costs.
- Availability depends on backup scope, backup type, storage capacity, retention policy, and backup integrity.
